Momo's Tuesday Challenge

Yay I love these challenges!  This week's challenge is to use some kind of embossing.  Since I'm a novice stamper I don't have a heating gun to heat emboss so I used my Cuttlebug Spots & Dots folder to make another birthday card.

This is for a 13 year old boy so no bling, ribbon, etc....

I think this will work well for a boy.  Black card base and the patterned paper is KI Memories from the Party Pack.  The Happy birthday is from Celebrations and cut at 2 inches I believe (I laid it all out in my Gypsy, so not sure).  I like the way the stars and circles look together.  The flash kinda washed out the colors, it's brighter in real life.  All in all I like the way this came out.

Thanks for looking today!  The week is half over... yay!!!  Hope your week is going great! :)

November Birthdays

Wow, I didn't realize I had so many birthdays coming up this month.  I need to get busy!!!  I'll be posting up lots of birthday cards in the coming days.

Fantabulous Cricut's Challenge Me Monday this week is to use a bird so I made this very pink card for a sweet little girl's birthday...

Not one of my favorite cards but I do loooove that little birdie.  She's from Cherry Limeade.  I cut her at 3 inches and you can't tell but she's on pop dots.  The patterned pattern is very old KI Memories and the sentiment is from Scrappy Moms.  I inked up the pink cardstock a bit and added a pink ribbon (I'm thinking I should have went w/ a brown ribbon now, ugh!).

Thanks for looking and stopping by! :)  I'll be back soon with more birthday cards.

#5 & #6

Still posting up the challenges from World Card Making Day hosted by Christina @ http://www.creationswithchristina.com/.

Challenge # 5 was to make a Christmas tag or gift card.  This was certainly a challenge for me.

Wow.  I need tag help!  LOL  Definitely not my strong suit.  This tag was cut @ 4.5 inches from the Joys of The Season cartridge.  I did my own layering, cutting it 3 times.... white (just the tag shape, I used Design Studio to take out all the cuts inside the frame), red, than the stripped paper from KI Memories.  Added some red bling around the frame and some white sheer ribbon.  I see such cute tags online but had some trouble coming up with something I loved.  I'll probably use this one on a scrapbook page.

Challenge #6 was to make a card using a fall image or stamp.  Here's my card...

I found the pilgrim's hat on Designer's Calendar when I was using the ribbon from challenge #2.  I thought it was pretty cool.  Designer's Calendar is really under used for me.  There are some cool cuts on this cartridge... I need to start using it more.  I cut the hat at 2.75 inches.  The patterned paper is from DCWV's Amber Autumn stack.  The top one is more reddish, the camera flash pulled it pink in this picture.  I added some ribbon (love that ribbon, I think it's my favorite in my stash), white gel pen to bring out some of the cuts on the hat, and inked up the edges.... another simple one from me :)

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be putting up the final 2 challenges later tonight or tomorrow.

Queen for the day

I didn't have time to post yesterday but I have been working on all the challenges Christina posted for World Card Making Day on Saturday on her blog.  I don't have time this week to sit down and do them all at once so I'm just doing them when I can fit them in.  I enjoy sitting down for a bit of quiet time after a hectic day to do something I enjoy.

Challenge 1 was to make a card based on a sketch and here's what I did...

This is for a girlfriend that just got a promotion at work (even though it looks like a little girls card, lol).  A group of friends are getting together to celebrate with her (we're calling it her "Queen for the day drinks and dinner party"!! lol ) so I made her this cute little card.  She loves all things crowns/tiaras so I hope she'll like it.

The patterned paper is KI Memories and was scraps laying out on my table from a project I was working on (altered pocket calendars, I'll post them soon).  The crown is from Rock Princess and cut at 3 inches.  The Fab stamp is from Scrappy Moms.  This was a pretty fast card to put together.

Thanks for taking a look.

A couple layouts

Happy Saturday!  Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  So far it's been a great day.  I was up early to finish up on my housework and get out all my fall decorations.  I looove this time of year and getting out all my fall decor.  Granted, where I'm at we don't get much of a change in seasons... but the calendar says fall, so I go with it :) The weather is perfection right now... I've got all the windows open and there's a nice little breeze coming through.  I watched a couple DVR'd shows (man, my DVR was smoking this week with all the new show premieres,  LOL).  I finally got to sit down at my craft table.  Ahhh... just makes me so relaxed.

Thought I'd share a few quick layouts I did.  These are just 8x8 size for a Disneyland album I'm working on.  For me, there is no better time to go to Disney than the holidays.  Man, do they know how to do it up!  (Did you know they make it snow at night during December.  Right here in So. Calif -- SNOW!!!  Well... fake snow, but still it's snows!  It's so cool)  I went with some friends to spend the day at Disneyland during the holidays and decided to just do a small 8x8 album for these pictures.

These pictures are from the Haunted Mansion...

This picture isn't very good but they deck out the Haunted Mansion like the movie Nightmare Before Christmas.  It's crazy but fun.  So that's the deal w/ the skulls.  The sign in the picture says "Haunted Mansion Holiday" and it's right at the entrance of the Haunted Mansion.  So this page... the patterned paper is from DCWV Midnight Spell Stack.  The 2 skulls I cut from Indie Art and the little Santa hat is cut from Joys of the Season.

Here's a couple more pictures from around the Mansion...

The patterned paper here is from KI Memories (I love that paper with the dots).  The pumpkins I cut from October 31st and just stacked them up.

Super simple pages.  I'm just wanting to get them in an album.  Next I'm working on some Toon Town pictures.... and I just dropped my letters I cut out earlier behind my desk.  Guess it's time to go dig them out... what a pain.  LOL  So I'm off to go do that and some more crafting.  :)

Thanks for looking and I hope you are all enjoying your weekends.

Kickin' It Old School

This weeks Throwback Thursday Challenge is to make a card or layout with no machines... old school style ;)

I'm a simple scrapper/card maker but this is realllllly simple.  I kinda like it.

It's a lot brighter IRL than it photographed.

Too early for Christmas??  I saw the dot patterned paper from KI Memories in my scraps and had to use it... it's old but I still love it.  So Christmas it is this week.  I inked up the edges w/ the ColorBox cat eye in Warm Red. The stripped paper down the center was in the scrap bin also.  The sticker was something I found in the depths of my stash.  I didn't even realize I still had stickers, LOL.  Now that is old school... :)

So that's it... paper scraps, a sticker, and adhesive.  That's as simple as it gets.  Thanks for looking and Happy Friday!  Yay, it's the weekend!!!  :)

Another Momo Tuesday Challenge

I love all the challenges out there in blog world!  Sometimes you pull out older items you haven't used, or new techniques, stretch your creativity, or they just get you to sit down and take the time to make something.

This week for Momo's Tuesday Challenge it's to make "Just Because" cards and send them out.  I really needed this challenge right now.  My card stash is seriously depleted and I have a couple friends who are going through some rough times so I needed to take the time to make these cards.

This is the first card...

This was made with the Lacy Labels cartridge.  I have used this cut the most from that cartridge, but I do like most of the cuts... it's a good cartridge.  The patterned paper is older KI Memories.  I made the cut at 2.75 inches and added a little bling to the center of the flowers.

Here's the other card I made....

This card took a little more time than I'm used to.  I'm all about simple most of the time!  The cuts are from the Home Decor Solutions cartridge and I had to do my own layering.  I went back to my old Chatterbox paper stash... I will use it all up and get it outta here sooner or later!  LOL  My cuts were all from scraps.  I used blue for the bird because on the flowers of the patterned paper there is faint blue color that's not showing up very well on the picture.  Anyways...  The two branches (the brown one was just the branch, the green one had the leaves) are both cut at 3 inches.  The bird is cut at 2.5 inches and I cut it 3 times (yellow, light blue, and dark blue).  I added some small Prima flowers, a googly eye, and a random stamp I have.

I already wrote my notes to my friends, addressed and stamped the envelopes and these are going out tomorrow morning in the mail!  So thanks Momo for getting me off my butt to get these done ;)

Thanks for looking!  Have a great day!!!

Cheers

Grams

In a long line of crafty chicks in my family it all starts with my Grams.  She was an amazing crafter.  Not with paper and glue, which is my chosen love, but she is a fabulous seamstress, quilter, painter, crocheter, knitter, doll maker, she was so good at so many different things.

The past couple years her body has started failing her.  The mind is sharp as a tack, just her body is losing and time is winning.  :(  Her hands have really been affected so crafting is something in the past for her.  I know she misses it and that makes me sad for her.

Since she has a hard time getting out and about but still remembers EVERYONE's birthday (seriously, she remembers everything!) every couple months I crank out some super easy cards for her to send to family and friends.  This is what I came up for her this time around....

Very simple, even for me and I'm a super simple card maker/scrapper.  Standard card base.  Circle was punched w/ my big jumbo circle punch (which is hiding from me somewhere since I made these cards... hmmm time to organize and straighten up!).  The stripped patterned paper was from my scraps, but I believe it's old KI Memories.  The green plaid and polka dot paper for my cupcake frosting is from the DCWV Stack 7.  The cupcake I cut out with the Solutions Home Decor cartridge.  I used my Design Studio and did the Hide Contour feature for the cherry on top of the cupcake because I didn't want it on these.  I also used the Hide Contour feature to cut all my tops out at once, than my cupcake wrappers.  Saved paper that way.

I think that's it.  Pretty easy.  Thanks for taking a look.

Inspired

I was inspired by Crafting With Cristina for this next card.  Her card is insanely cute and so much better than this card.  I'm not thrilled with this at all.  I just noticed that my ribbon ends are frayed... grrr!  I need go back and fix that up.

Standard card.  The patterned paper is old KI Memories (KI Memories, the old stuff, is absolutely some of my favorite paper EVER, no one does stripes like they do.  LOVE it!).  The scalloped squares are from Accent Essentials.  The flowers were cut from Forever Young, all scraps.  Does anyone else get a thrill from using up scraps?  :)  The stamps were Michael's dollar bin from a few years back.

Thanks for taking a look.  I've got a few things to post up tomorrow and a lot of ideas.

Cheers,
-Amanda
